We offer farming groups aggregated produce visibility to medium and large buyers at market prices. With room for negotiation between farmer group and off-taker, we offer transparent integration and value to both players. We support staple crops such as grains, pulses, fruits and vegetables which farm families rely on for food as well as commercial crops.
Estimates by the FAO indicate that Uganda loses 17.2% of its harvest across all crops. That works out to approximately 2.8 million metric tonnes. This obviously represents huge losses for the rural economy in Uganda. Our work is quite cut on this singular service.
How We Do It
We help farmers grow and sell more crops. A few simple steps can make farms far more productive.
- Farmer groups decide what crop to grow as individual members maintain individual growing records on Last mile platform using a USSD (*217*229#)short code
- Upon harvesting, members post actual crop harvest in Kgs. This is aggregated at group level and groups aggregated at district level on the LastMile dashboard. This information appears in a marketplace for off-takers to consume.
- Interest in produce leads to market price negotiations between the parties and a win-win deal is made.
