Finance service on the Lastmile platform offers all types of savings groups a flexible and transparent platform that allows members to save conveniently, borrow and pay back their loans to their respective groups.
We serve rural village savings groups (VSLA) that are informal and meet under trees. We demonstrate the importance of maintain financial records and hand-hold these groups towards formal registration and linkage to Financial Institutions. We also serve established saving groups, Unions & Saccos, enabling them maintain digitized member records that are self-printable at request.
How We Work With VSLA
- We recruit trained youth (agent) who are already known and working with village groups to digitize existing saving groups.
- We train the resident youth agent on how to use the Lastmile platform to mentor savings group members on how save and borrow from their group digitally. This automatically generates records for both the group and individual members.
- For groups that have established group objectives and resolutions, our digital platform enables them have the necessary financial records to qualify for credit from formal Financial Service Providers.
To date we are working with over 2,650 saving groups mostly in the northern parts of Uganda.
